COMSEP Virtual Grand Round: Observation to feedback to grading – Frameworks for the rhythm of assessment

How can shared frameworks allow faculty to convert their observations of a student or resident into “information” suitable for feedback and then allow clerkship and program directors to manage systematic sampling that generates “knowledge” or sufficient evidence for higher stakes decisions? Systems thinking uses a physiologic approach to how we communicate about learner success in the clinical setting with the goal of embracing complexity, but acting with simplicity.
