The Assessment and Evaluation Collaborative (A&E) is dedicated to advancing best practices in the assessment and evaluation of medical students within a rapidly evolving educational landscape. Recognizing the increasing complexity of medical education, the Collaborative develops innovative, evidence-informed approaches to ensure assessments and evaluations are rigorous, equitable, and aligned with contemporary curricular goals.

Recent initiatives have focused on strengthening the quality and usefulness of narrative feedback, mitigating bias in assessment processes, thoughtfully integrating artificial intelligence into evaluation systems, expanding and optimizing the use of Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs), developing structured algorithms for evaluating professionalism, and implementing robust tools to assess clinical reasoning.

The A&E Collaborative works in close partnership with other Collaboratives to promote alignment across educational domains. Most recently, it led efforts to map assessment strategies to the new COMSEP Curriculum, ensuring coherence between learning objectives, instructional practices, and evaluation methods.

We welcome all who are interested, whether you are a novice or seasoned expert, to join our team so that we can share challenges and explore different approaches together.
