Pediatric Database
The purpose of this Database is to provide a very short synopsis on various Pediatric disorders. This Pediatric Database was designed by Dr. Alan Gandy (MD.,PhD.,FRCP(C)) while enrolled in the Pediatric Residency Program at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada from 1990-1994.

OMIM Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man
This database is a catalog of human genes and genetic disorders authored and edited by Dr. Victor A. McKusick and his colleagues at Johns Hopkins and elsewhere, and developed for the World Wide Web by NCBI, the National Center for Biotechnology Information. The database contains textual information, pictures, and reference information. It also contains copious links to NCBI's Entrez database of MEDLINE articles

PedsCCM
is a collaborative, independent, information resource and communication tool for professionals caring for critically ill and injured infants and children. We are seeking articles, lectures, literature reviews, case reports and practical materials, e.g., clinical pathways: all original educational material submitted is peer reviewed.

Pediatric Critical Care Education
The site contains educational material in the form of PowerPoint presentations on topics that form a core curriculum for housetaff (medical students and residents) in the area of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. These presentations have been authored by members of the Resident Education Committee and are available for download to your computer/server.

list-servs of interest to medical educators:

What is a list-serv? A list serv allows groups of people interested in the same topic to discuss topics via e-mail. Those in the list-serv receive notification of all posts the to the list serv and can respond. You must sign up for a list-serv and asked to be removed from the list to cancel the list-serv.

    Provides a forum for discussions among APA members
  5. Med-Ed:
    The AAMC has launched an electronic mail discussion group, or listserv, for developers and users of medical education software in undergraduate, graduate, and continuing medical education. This forum will allow a broad-based and swift exchange of ideas on courseware, authoring tools, and evaluation criteria and methods, along with other infrastructure and technical issues.


Specific medical literature searches engines:

NLM Gateway
The NLM Gateway allows users to search in multiple retrieval systems at the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM). The current Gateway searches MEDLINE/PubMed, OLDMEDLINE, LOCATORplus, MEDLINEplus, DIRLINE, AIDS Meetings, Health Services Research Meetings, Space Life Sciences Meetings, and HSRProj.

PubMed, a service of the National Library of Medicine, provides access to over 11 million MEDLINE citations back to the mid-1960's and additional life science journals. PubMed includes links to many sites providing full text articles and other related resources.

National Organization of Rare Diseases (NORD)
Search the largest database of understandable information on rare disorders. Over 1,100 diseases are included.
